Cheesecakes are traditionally associated with a sweet breakfast or afternoon snack. But this dessert, beloved by many, can easily be transformed into an original and satisfying dish if you add feta cheese and fresh herbs instead of sugar and raisins. Ingredients

  • Cottage cheese – 400 g (preferably fatty, well-squeezed)
  • Feta cheese – 100 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Flour – 3-4 tbsp. + a little for breading
  • Greens (dill, parsley, green onions) — to taste
  • Salt — to taste (taking into account the saltiness of the feta cheese)
  • Black pepper — optional
  • Vegetable oil — for frying

Step-by-step recipe

  • First of all, make sure that the cottage cheese is dry and crumbly. If it is too wet, squeeze it through cheesecloth. Grate the feta cheese on a coarse grater or mash with a fork. Finely chop the greens.
  • In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese, feta cheese, egg, greens, add 3 tablespoons of flour. Mix until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. Salt and pepper to taste (if the feta cheese is salty, you can not add salt at all).
  • Form small flat cakes, roll each in flour. To prevent the syrniki from sticking to your hands, you can lightly moisten your palms with water.
  • Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil. Fry the syrniki on medium heat on both sides until golden brown (3-4 minutes on each side). It is important not to overheat the pan so that the syrniki do not burn on the outside and have time to cook on the inside.
