Spicy fried rice is a spicy Asian dish that can be easily cooked at home. It can be cooked with vegetables, meat, seafood, or left completely vegetarian. At joy-pup, we offer a recipe for spicy fried rice with vegetables.
Ingredients (for 2-3 servings):
Boiled rice – 2 cups (it is better to use yesterday’s rice so that the rice is not too wet).
- Egg – 2 pcs.
- Carrot – 1 pc. (cut into small cubes).
- Bell pepper – 1 pc. (cut into strips).
- Green peas – 100 g (can be frozen).
- Onion – 1 pc. (finely chop).
- Garlic – 2 cloves (crushed).
- Fresh ginger – 1 tsp (grated).
- Soy sauce – 3 tbsp.
- Hot sauce (such as sriracha) – 2 tbsp. (or to taste).
- Sesame oil – 2 tbsp.
- Vegetable oil – for frying.
- Ground red pepper – 1/2 tsp. (optional).
- Green onions – for garnish.
- Sesame seeds – for serving.
Step-by-step recipe for spicy fried rice
- If you are using freshly cooked rice, let it cool until it becomes crumbly. Cut the vegetables into small pieces for even frying.
- In a small bowl, lightly beat the eggs with a fork. Heat a little vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok. Pour the beaten eggs and fry them until done, stirring constantly. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Heat sesame oil in the same pan. Add garlic and ginger, fry for about 30 seconds to release the aroma. Put in chopped onion, carrot and bell pepper. Fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are soft. Add green peas and stir.
- Put rice in the pan. Pour soy sauce and hot sauce over it, mix thoroughly. Season with red ground pepper (to taste).
- Return the fried eggs to the pan. Stir all the ingredients so that they are evenly distributed. Fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Place the finished spicy fried rice on a plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
