Scandinavian sock gnome: step-by-step master class
Making a New Year’s gnome with your own hands is a fascinating creative process. We offer a master class on how to make a gnome from a sock – the easiest and simplest option. To make this craft, you do not need to sew anything, and the product itself can be assembled in 15-20 minutes. Choose a bright and colorful sock, preferably with a New Year’s ornament.
Materials:
- Thick sock (preferably red).
- Cereals, sea salt, sand – one to choose from.
- Sintepon.
- Elastic bands or threads.
- White fur with long pile.
- Glue gun.
- Scissors.
- Nylon socks.
- Small diameter foam ball.
- Ribbons, flowers, snowflakes, balls or other materials for decoration.
Master class step by step
1 Prepare the necessary materials.
2. Take a thick sock with white terry inside and cut it in half.
3. Take the lower cut part of the sock, pour cereal there, and fill it with padding polyester on top. Place it on a flat surface and cover the top with an elastic band or thread.
4. Take the second part of the sock, fold the cut edge inward and secure with an elastic band. This will be the gnome’s cap.
5. Carefully place the cap on the gnome’s body.
6. Take a piece of white long-pile fur, cut the beard into a triangle with rounded edges and glue it to the gnome.
7. Cover the foam ball with a piece of flesh-colored nylon and glue it between the beard and the cap.
8. If desired, glue a bell onto the end of the gnome’s cap.
9. The Scandinavian gnome is ready! If desired, add additional elements, decor or decorations.
Ideas and options for the New Year’s gnome
Diversify the gnome figurine as you wish. Add arms, legs, braids, hair. Insert the staff into your hand, and the end of the cap can be made long and wrapped in a spiral or along a curved line. Instead of a sock, use felt or an old knitted sweater that has served its purpose.
