Our body consists of 60-70% water, and even minor dehydration can affect your overall well-being. Many people underestimate the importance of drinking regimen, not noticing the first alarming signals that the body sends. At joy-pup, we will consider five main signs that indicate a lack of water in the body. Read also the main signs of damaged hair.
Constant fatigue and lethargy
If you feel tired even after a good night’s sleep, dehydration may be the cause. Water is involved in the delivery of nutrients to cells, and when there is a lack of it, energy metabolism is disrupted. The heart and other organs have to work under increased stress, which causes a feeling of exhaustion. Try to drink a glass of water in the morning immediately after waking up and regularly throughout the day – this will help maintain alertness and concentration.
Headaches and dizziness
Dehydration can cause a decrease in the volume of fluid in the brain and a change in pressure, which often manifests itself in the form of a headache. Sometimes such pains are mistaken for migraines or overwork. Before reaching for a painkiller, drink a glass of water. If the headache is associated with dehydration, it may go away within 15-30 minutes.
Dry skin and mucous membranes

Skin is one of the first organs to react to a lack of fluid. Dryness, peeling, loss of elasticity, dull complexion – all this can indicate that the body does not have enough water. Dry mouth and eyes may also appear. It is important to moisturize the skin from the inside by regularly drinking clean water.
Digestive problems
Water plays a key role in the digestion process. If there is not enough of it, the stomach and intestines are disrupted, constipation, heaviness after eating and other discomfort may occur. Saliva production also decreases, which makes it difficult for food to be broken down in the mouth. Drink water 20-30 minutes before and 30-40 minutes after meals — this will improve digestion and overall well-being.
Rare urge to urinate
Urine is an indicator of the body’s hydration. Normally, it should be light yellow. If the color becomes rich and the urge to urinate is rare, this is a clear signal that the body lacks fluid. Monitor the color of your urine as a simple and effective way to monitor your water intake.
