With age, makeup requires more attention to detail. This is especially true for concealer – a product that can both refresh the face and emphasize wrinkles, dryness or skin texture if applied incorrectly. At joy-pup, we give practical tips that will help you use concealer correctly and without mistakes. Read also how to care for skin for women after 25.

Choose a concealer with the right texture

Light, moisturizing concealers with a satin or natural finish work best on adult skin. Avoid dry matte textures that emphasize wrinkles. A concealer of medium density will suit you, which does not overload the under-eye area and is well shaded.

Apply pointwise and in measured doses

The less product, the better the result. Apply the concealer not in a “triangle under the eyes”, as is often advised on the Internet, but in small dots only in problem areas: the inner corner of the eye, just below the tear trough and, if necessary, a little towards the outer corner.

Blend only with soft movements

Do not rub the concealer, as this stretches the skin. Instead, tap it with your fingertips (they will warm the product up a little) or use a damp sponge, which distributes the product thinly and without overloading. Brushes with hard bristles can leave streaks and “stretch” the skin texture, so avoid them in delicate areas.

Fixation – carefully and only when necessary

If the skin is prone to creasing, you can lightly fix the concealer with loose powder. But it is very important to use a microdose and apply it with a fluffy brush or sponge with light tapping movements. Use talc-free powder, preferably with moisturizing components. Old-type powders can dry out and age the under-eye area.

Even out the overall tone, but don’t cover it completely

Many people try to “cover” dark circles with too thick a layer, which makes the face look tired. It’s better to first use a light peach-colored corrector (to neutralize the blueness), and then a translucent concealer in your skin tone on top.

Don’t forget about other areas

Concealer can (and should) be used not only under the eyes. It will help refresh the face if you apply it to the nasolabial folds, corners of the lips, center of the forehead and chin. The main thing is to shade and use as little product as possible so as not to emphasize the texture of the skin.

Choose the right shade

A concealer that is too light can make the look tired and highlight wrinkles, and one that is too dark will not give the desired effect. Ideally, a shade half a shade lighter than your base skin tone, with a warm undertone (peach or neutral).
