The daily skin care ritual should not be limited to the neck, because the décolleté area deserves the same attention as the face. This area is slightly thinner than the skin on the face and is often just as noticeable. Unfortunately, this is often forgotten and the daily beauty routine ends on the chin or neck. Give this part of the body good care – read on Joy-pup how to care for the décolleté area at home.
Why is it necessary to take care of the décolleté area?
The décolleté area, like a mirror, reflects age. This delicate and sensitive area is the first to reveal the years hidden behind a beautiful outfit. Wrinkles and sagging tissue appear early in this area due to an underdeveloped layer of subcutaneous fat. Additionally, just like your face, your décolleté area is very sensitive to sun damage and premature aging. UV rays and free radical damage lead to collagen breakdown (which means sagging and wrinkles), age spots, loose skin and the appearance of veins. Wrinkles in the décolleté area can occur when sleeping in a certain position – on the side or on the stomach. If you want your décolleté to remain smooth and beautiful for as long as possible, it is important to include caring for this area in your morning and evening beauty routine.
Vitamin A for skin elasticity
As a rule, what is good for the face is good for the neck and décolleté. If you want to prevent skin aging, use a cream with retinol (vitamin A) on the décolleté area to keep the skin there fresh and smooth. Vitamin A reduces fine lines and creases by increasing collagen production. There is only one thing: you should not use retinol during the day, as it makes the skin more sensitive to UV damage. It is best to use it in the evening before bed to allow the effect to take effect overnight. Start with once a week and increase the frequency as your skin gets used to the retinol.
Vitamin C – antioxidant
Free radicals accelerate skin aging, and vitamin C, as a powerful antioxidant, will help fight and slow down this process. More importantly, vitamin C stimulates collagen production, which helps keep the framework underneath your skin firm. You can use cosmetic products with vitamin C both in the morning and in the evening.
Hyaluronic acid – hydration
To improve skin hydration, especially after using a retinol cream, you can apply a moisturizer or serum with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin and it is important to maintain its levels. It also has a smoothing effect on the skin, filling in lines and wrinkles, making them less noticeable. Hyaluronic acid improves hydration and elasticity of skin cells. As a result, the skin becomes firmer and smoother.
Peeling
Loss of volume and folding of the skin during sleep are two main causes of chest wrinkles. As we age, collagen is destroyed by exposure to sunlight and free radicals. The skin in the décolleté area is relatively thin, so deep wrinkles or dry lines will become noticeable more quickly. Exfoliation is necessary to remove dead skin cells, stimulate the formation of new cells and ensure better absorption of skincare products. Use a glycolic acid or AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) peel.
Cleavage massage
With a firming product and a short massage, you can improve your skin’s elasticity so it looks firm and fresh again. After showering, apply a firming serum or cream. Massage in circular motions from the center of your chest up to your shoulders, and then from the base of your neck up to your chin. Once a week, apply a firming mask to the décolleté area. This provides more elastic skin with optimal moisture balance.
