Thin hair often looks lifeless and hardly holds a hairstyle. However, it is quite possible to achieve natural volume and keep it throughout the day – it is important to know the right techniques and suitable products. We at joy-pup tell you how to create natural volume on thin hair and keep it throughout the day. Read also which natural rinses to choose for hair.
Hair preparation: proper care
The basis for volume is laid by proper hair care. Use products marked “for volume” or “for thin hair”. They do not weigh down the hair and lift it at the roots.
Once a week, use a cleansing shampoo to remove the remains of styling products and sebum, which weigh down the hair. Apply a moisturizing conditioner exclusively to the length and ends of the hair, avoiding the root zone.
How to Create Natural Volume for Fine Hair

Blow-drying
This is one of the most important steps, which includes several rules.
- Dry your hair upside down. This is a classic way to add natural volume at the roots.
- Use a round brush. When drying, lift the hair at the roots with a medium-sized round brush.
- Heat, then cold. Finish drying with cold air – this will fix the volume and make the hair more elastic.
Use the right styling products
- Use a volumizing mousse, applying it to damp hair at the roots before drying.
- Salts and texturizing sprays help create the “second day” effect – a light, tousled splendor.
- After styling, fix the result with a medium-hold hairspray to maintain the volume without sticking the hair together.
Don’t be afraid of backcombing
A small backcombing at the roots (especially in the crown area) will add extra volume. The main thing is to do it with a soft brush and fix it with hairspray to maintain a natural look.
