The most popular way to highlight the eyes is to apply arrows. But what else can you use instead to make your eyes expressive? We at joy-pup offer three techniques for applying makeup without arrows to highlight the eyes.
Use eye shadow
Choosing the right eye shadow is key. To highlight your eyes, you should choose shades that contrast with your eye color.
- For blue eyes, warm brown, bronze and peach shades are suitable.
- For green eyes – purple, plum and copper tones.
- For brown eyes – shades of green, gold and copper.
Use multiple shades of eyeshadow to create depth and dimension to your look. Apply a light shade to the inner corner of the eye and under the eyebrow, a medium shade to the eyelid, and a dark shade to the outer corner of the eye and the crease of the eyelid. Blend all the transitions to achieve a soft gradient.
Emphasize your eyelashes
Mascara plays an important role in eye makeup. Use a mascara that adds volume and lengthens your lashes. To create a more expressive effect, you can apply mascara in two layers, starting from the roots of the eyelashes and moving towards their tips.
Eyeliner
Pay attention to the technique of applying eyeliner or pencil to the mucous membrane of the eyelid. For natural daytime makeup, use nude pencils, and for evening makeup, use black or brown.
Also a good option would be the Tightlining technique for lining the interlash space. It creates the effect of thick eyelashes and makes the look more intense. To do this, use a waterproof pencil or eyeliner.
