Have you ever noticed that makeup done with great care in the morning already loses its freshness by lunchtime? The secret to long-lasting and effective makeup is in proper skin preparation. Without it, even the most expensive cosmetics may not “work” the way you want. We at joy-pup will tell you how to prepare your skin for makeup at home. Read also what mistakes we make when applying eye cream.
Step 1. Cleansing
Even if you didn’t apply makeup the day before, dust, sebum, and residues of skin care products accumulate on your skin overnight. Start your morning with gentle cleansing – it can be a gel, foam, or milk, depending on your skin type. And remember: no aggressive formulations or hot water. Only gentle care and cool water for toning.
Step 2. Toner
The next step is toner. It not only refreshes the skin, but also restores its pH balance after washing. Ideally, if the composition contains aloe vera, chamomile or hyaluronic acid. A few drops on a cotton pad, and gently move your face. You will instantly feel how the skin becomes more hydrated and elastic.
Step 3. Moisturizing
Without good hydration, makeup will never look natural. Cream or gel is selected strictly according to skin type: for dry skin – a dense texture, for oily skin – a light fluid. Apply the product along massage lines, not forgetting the neck. Let the cream absorb, and only then proceed to the next step.

Step 4. Care for the area around the eyes
The thin and delicate skin under the eyes needs special care. A light cream or gel will help remove morning puffiness and prepare this area for applying concealer. Do not stretch the skin: pat the product in with the pads of your ring fingers, gently and delicately.
Step 5. Primer
This is your ally in the fight for long-lasting makeup. Mattifying, moisturizing, with a glow effect or color-correcting – choose the one that suits you. Primer evens out skin texture, hides pores and helps the foundation lie evenly and last all day.
Step 6. Moisturizing lips
Few people know, but lips also need preparation. A couple of minutes before makeup, apply balm. It will smooth the skin, soften it and make the application of lipstick flawless.
