The streaming service HBO Max has officially greenlit a third season of “The Pitt,” which has already become one of the platform’s most successful dramas.

The show’s renewal was announced by HBO CEO Casey Bloys during the second season premiere in Los Angeles. The debut season of the series was highly acclaimed by the professional community: it received 13 Emmy nominations and won in five categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, as well as several acting awards. This year, the series is also nominated for Directors Guild Awards and acting awards. According to Bloys, Pitt’s success is largely due to its well-thought-out concept and production stability, rare in modern television. The creators manage to release up to 15 episodes annually without sacrificing quality. The HBO executive noted that in an era of short seasons and long hiatus, this format has become an exception, which sets the series apart from other projects.

The medical drama starring Noah Wyle, known for his work on ER, premiered in 2025. The plot centers on the daily work of the doctors and staff of a Pittsburgh emergency room. Each season covers one work shift, and each episode corresponds to one hour of events.

In addition to Wyle, the series stars Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hetosi, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Gawell, and Shabana Aziz. Sepideh Moafi, known for her work on “Blackbird,” joined the cast in the second season.

You can also watch the trailer for the sequel to the 2000s hit “Malcolm in the Middle.”
