Netflix is developing a multi-part drama series dedicated to one of the most famous families in US history – the Kennedys.
The new series, titled “Kennedy,” is based on Fredrik Logevall’s book, “JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956.” Michael Fassbender, known for his roles in “Inglourious Basterds” and “X-Men: First Class,” will play the role of the family patriarch, Joseph Kennedy Sr.

The project promises to explore the personal lives, loves, rivalries, and tragedies that shaped the legendary dynasty and influenced the modern world. The first season begins in the 1930s and follows the meteoric rise of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, including their second son, Jack, who struggles to establish himself and escape his older brother’s shadow.
The idea for the series took nearly two years to develop. Netflix planned to create an American version of “The Crown,” charting the Kennedy family’s journey from its beginnings to its political influence on the country.
