While the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 continues their worldwide promotional tour and Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway appear at premieres, 20th Century Studios has unveiled the final trailer for the long-awaited sequel.
The plot of the new installment unfolds two decades after the events of the first film. Legendary editor-in-chief of Runway magazine Miranda Priestly faces major changes in the industry – print publications are losing ground to digital platforms. Trying to adapt to the new reality, she turns to her former assistant, Andy, who once gave up a career in fashion for journalism.
As a reminder, the first film was based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. The script for the sequel was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, who also worked on the original film.
David Frankel returns as director. Meryl Streep (Miranda), Anne Hathaway (Andy), Emily Blunt (Emily), and Stanley Tucci (Nigel) reprise their roles. The film also features Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, and other actors.
The final trailer features the song “Runaway,” created specifically for the film by Lady Gaga and Doechii. According to some media reports, the singer has prepared several tracks for the sequel’s soundtrack.
