Paramount Pictures has released the debut trailer for “Scary Movie 6.” The new film marks the long-awaited return of the legendary parody series, which has been off the screen for over thirteen years.

The biggest surprise of the project was the reunion of the Waynes brothers. Marlon, familiar to audiences from the first installments of the franchise, Shawn, famous for the comedy “White Chicks,” and Keenan, director of the cult film “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central…,” are collaborating on a sequel for the first time in nearly two decades – this time as writers and producers.

Judging by the trailer, the filmmakers are focusing on satirizing the most celebrated modern horror films. The sixth installment satirizes shows like “The Sinners,” “Guns,” “Substance,” and the TV series “Wednesday.” Viewers will also notice references and parody scenes inspired by films like “Scream 6,” “Megan,” “Trap,” “Smile,” “Frightening,” and “Longshanks.”

The film also features the return of some of the franchise’s signature actors. Among them are Anna Faris (“The Dictator”), Regina Hall (“Battle After Battle”), Lochlyn Munro (“A Night at the Roxbury”), Dave Sheridan (“A Walk with the Dead”), Jon Abrahams (“House of Wax”), Cheri Oteri (“Grown Ups 2”), and Chris Elliott (“Schitt’s Creek”).

As a reminder, the first installment of “Scary Movie,” released in 2000, became a true box office hit among R-rated comedies. The film not only grossed impressively but also launched one of the most recognizable and commercially successful parody series in film history.

You can also watch the trailer for “Mortal Kombat 2.”
