The debut trailer for the film “The Bride” has appeared online — a daring punk-rock version of Mary Shelley’s legendary novel Frankenstein. The film will be Maggie Gyllenhaal’s second directorial work and promises to be one of the most talked-about premieres of spring 2026.

The film’s plot takes viewers to 1930s Chicago. A lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) turns to the talented scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) for help in creating a companion. Together they revive a murdered young woman (Jessie Buckley), and the Bride is born — a being that will change everything.

Events quickly spiral out of control: love, madness, bloody murders, and a rebellion against society. The trailer shows moments of their passionate escapes, wild dance scenes, and clashes with an angry mob. Frankenstein is ready to do anything for his beloved, uttering the vow: “We will be together until death do us part.”

The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Penélope Cruz, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Maggie Gyllenhaal herself not only directed but also wrote the screenplay and served as a producer.

The world premiere of “The Bride” will take place on March 6, 2026, including screenings in IMAX.

Recall that the trailer for the Teen Dystopia “The Long Walk” was recently released.
