Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the new film in the “Hunger Games” universe. Titled “Dawn of Harvest,” the film will hit theaters in November 2026, exactly one year from now.

According to Variety, the plot is based on the book set in 2025 and takes viewers back in time 24 years before the events of the original story starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. The story centers on young Gamemitch Abernathy, who is about to take part in the 50th Hunger Games.

These Games are the second Quarterly Cataclysm – a special event that occurs every quarter century and features modified rules. This time, each district of Panem is required to send twice as many tributes. As a result, 48 teenagers, including Gamemitch, will fight for survival.

The Lionsgate trailer also offers a first look at Joseph Zada, who plays the lead role. In the original film saga, Woody Harrelson played the adult Gamemitch.

Francis Lawrence, a longtime contributor to the franchise, once again directs the project, with a screenplay by Billy Ray.

You can also watch the trailer for the Moana remake.
