Amazon MGM Studios has released the debut trailer for the fantasy superhero film “Masters of the Universe.” The film will be a new take on the 1987 film of the same name and is based on the iconic franchise from Mattel, a company known for its toys.
The story revolves around a young man named Adam Glenn. As a child, he found himself on Earth, transported from a cosmic world, and in doing so, lost his magical Sword of Power. Nearly twenty years later, Adam recovers the lost weapon and journeys back to his home planet to fight back against the darkness threatening the entire world. It is there that he will embrace his destiny and become He-Man—the most powerful hero in the universe.
The title character is played by British actor Nicholas Galitzine, known to audiences for his roles in The Craft: Legacy and Thought of You. The key villain, Skeletor, is played by Jared Leto, who has previously starred in Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club, Suicide Squad, and Tron: Ares.
The film also features Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Gafthor Bjornsson, and several other well-known actors, making the cast particularly rich.
The film was directed by Travis Knight, director of the sci-fi action film Bumblebee from the Transformers film universe.
