Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have unveiled the debut trailer for the fifth installment of the legendary animated series – Toy Story 5. This sequel to one of the most successful franchises in cartoon history has already sparked heated discussion among fans.
The new chapter is scheduled to premiere on June 18, 2026. The project is directed by Andrew Stanton, known for his work on WALL-E and Finding Nemo, and Kenna Harris, who previously worked on the short film “Chao, Alberto.”
The voices that are integral to this story return: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack. Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien, among others, have also joined the cast.
The story once again centers on Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and their friends. However, this time they face an unusual challenge: a modern technological device in the form of a frog-shaped tablet named Lilypad. This new character symbolizes the world of digital entertainment, which is increasingly replacing traditional toys.
Lilypad poses a serious challenge for the heroes, forcing them to band together to maintain their place in the child’s life. Meanwhile, another new character, the comical Smarty Pants, joins the team. This toy, designed to help children master important everyday skills, brings an extra dose of humor to the story.
The creators promise that the fifth installment will combine nostalgia for the classic characters with the relevant theme of the confrontation between traditional toys and digital technology, while maintaining the series’ signature warmth and emotion.
