The debut teaser for “Dune: Part III,” scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, has been released. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Javier Bardem will reprise their roles in the new installment from Warner Bros. and Legendary. Newcomers Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy have also joined the cast.
The film takes place 17 years after the ending of “Dune: Part II.” At the beginning of the trailer, Chani (Zendaya) asks Paul (Chalamet) about their future child: if it’s a girl, what should she be named? If it’s a boy, she suggests the name Leto—in honor of Duke Leto Atreides, Paul’s father, so that the child will inherit his wisdom.
Then the viewer is treated to dynamic and intense battle scenes. The teaser features glimpses of Robert Pattinson’s character, Scytale, recognizable by his short blond hair. Paul appears with a new look—short hair—and in one scene, he rises to a dais before a huge, cheering crowd. Later, he finds himself alone with an enemy in the desert. His voiceover is heard: he admits that he doesn’t fear death, but understands that he can’t die now. In the final scene, Chani gathers her strength and rushes toward the invisible enemy.
The Dune franchise is a sprawling science fiction universe based on Frank Herbert’s Hugo Award-winning novels. The series currently includes two films—Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), which have collectively grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide and earned eight Academy Awards out of fifteen nominations, including Best Picture.
