The streaming platform Apple TV presented the debut trailer for the serial version of the famous crime drama Cape Fear. Let us remember that the 1991 film, directed by Martin Scorsese, was itself a remake of the 1962 film of the same name directed by J. Lee Thompson, based on the novel The Executioners.
The authors of the new project note that the series does not copy previous versions of the story. It is only inspired by the original plot, offering its own interpretation of events and characters.
At the center of the story is the dangerous criminal Max Cady, who is released and is obsessed with the desire to take revenge on his public defender. It was this lawyer who once withheld important evidence that could affect the outcome of the case.
The main role in the series was played by Javier Bardem, known for the films No Country for Old Men and Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Previously, this image was embodied by Robert de Niro in Scorsese’s version.
The producers of the project were Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, which adds additional attention to the project from the audience.
The series premiere is scheduled for June 5, 2026.
