The streaming platform HBO Max has released the debut trailer for the new series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which will be a prequel to the cult classic “Game of Thrones.”
Based on the works of George R.R. Martin, the story follows the adventures of a simple knight, Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey), and his young squire, Egg (Dexter Saul Ansell), who is actually hiding his true identity as the heir to House Targaryen, Prince Aegon. As the pair journeys across Westeros, they face many trials, dangers, and intrigue.
The events of the series take place approximately nine decades before the events familiar to viewers from Game of Thrones.
According to the creators, the new project will offer a different perspective on the world of Westeros: instead of the struggle for thrones and palace intrigue, the plot will focus on the lives of low-ranking knights and people far removed from power. The series will also feature members of the Targaryen dynasty, specifically Baelor, Maekar, and their sons Erion and Daeron, who will be forced to confront political challenges in an era when dragons have already disappeared from the world.
The season will consist of six episodes, and the premiere is scheduled for January 18, 2026.
As a reminder, HBO previously released the first stills from the set of the series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
