For many years, the idea of traveling back in time was considered science fiction. However, as scientists delve deeper into the structure of the universe, discoveries are regularly emerging that could change our understanding of the cosmos.

While observing comet 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak, researchers noticed an unusual phenomenon: the object suddenly changed its speed and trajectory. In their paper, they suggested that as it approached the Sun, the comet’s behavior created an effect that could be interpreted as movement “backward in time.”

According to the experts, during its passage near the Sun, comet 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak changed the direction of its rotation. This phenomenon is possible when jets of gas are violently ejected from the comet’s nucleus. Their reactive impact can practically stop the rotation of a celestial body, after which it begins to rotate in the opposite direction.

Furthermore, the researchers noted that the shape of this comet resembles an elongated oval or even a potato. Scientists plan to continue observing 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak to obtain more data on its structure and behavior in space.

As a reminder, the Webb telescope revealed a nebula resembling the human brain.
