Chinese scientists have announced the creation of an innovative “superglue” for bones that can repair fractures that typically take months to heal in minutes.

This drug, called Bone-02, was developed by specialists at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. According to the developers, the product has already been successfully tested in over 150 clinical cases. As orthopedist Lin Xianfeng from Sir Run Run Shou Hospital explains, a single injection is enough to “glue” bone fragments together in just three minutes.

Chinese scientists were inspired by the ability of oysters to adhere firmly to wet and moving surfaces thanks to their natural bioadhesive. Using this principle, they were able to create Bone-02. In one experiment, a patient with a wrist fracture received an injection through a small incision just 3 cm long. Within three minutes, the bone had healed, whereas standard surgery would have required the insertion of a metal structure and subsequent reoperation to remove it. Three months after the procedure, the bone had healed completely and without complications. This is just one of the many successful applications of Bone-02.

The adhesive dissolves naturally in the body over time, eliminating the risk of infection and sparing patients the need for repeat surgery.

Bone-02 has already received patent protection in China and abroad. However, as experts note, further large-scale studies are needed to confirm its absolute safety and effectiveness.

As a reminder, we reported that artificial intelligence has learned to predict diseases 10 years before the first symptoms.
