At the end of 2025, Meta filed a patent for an unusual language model capable of replicating a user’s behavior on social media. The idea is that the system can continue a person’s digital activity if they disappear from the online space, for example, if they take a break from posting or even die.
As Business Insider reports, the new technology potentially allows for the creation of a kind of digital avatar based on a specific user’s accumulated data. The algorithm analyzes their previous comments, reactions, posts, and preferences to recreate their characteristic communication style and online behavior patterns.
Using the collected information, such a virtual double could theoretically post comments, respond to incoming messages, and interact with other users’ content. Moreover, the technology could potentially enable the imitation of voice messages and even participation in video calls, closely resembling a person’s actual style.

The developers believe that such a tool could be popular among bloggers and influencers, who need to maintain audience engagement even during breaks. This would allow them to maintain reach and monetization while remaining present in the digital space.
Meta emphasizes that registering a patent does not immediately guarantee the launch or implementation of the solution. The company notes that many patented ideas remain at the conceptual stage and do not necessarily reach practical implementation.
