NASA scientists, together with Toho University, have calculated that in approximately one billion years, oxygen will disappear from the planet’s atmosphere. Therefore, life on Earth as we know it will become impossible.
According to scientists, as the Sun gradually warms, carbon dioxide molecules will begin to break down. Without it, plants will be unable to photosynthesize, meaning oxygen production will cease. As a result, forests, animals, and humans will disappear.

Only anaerobic microorganisms, which can exist without oxygen, will be able to survive on Earth. Methane concentrations will also increase, the air will become toxic, and the planet will gradually turn into the barren rock it was billions of years ago.
The ozone layer will also disappear, leaving the planet defenseless against solar radiation.
As a reminder, we previously reported that NASA plans to create a settlement on the Moon.
