Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk, will begin implanting the Blindsight neurochip in people at the end of 2025. It can restore vision even to a completely blind person.

As Musk says, the first version of the implant will restore vision in low resolution, like 8-bit Atari graphics. But over time, the technology will reach a superhuman level.

The Blindsight neurochip will stimulate the visual cortex of the brain, which is responsible for processing visual information, bypassing damaged nerves. Thus, it becomes a revolutionary solution for people with complete loss of vision, including those who have not seen since birth.

The development of such chips became known in March 2024. They have already been successfully tested on blind monkeys, and none of them were seriously injured or died. In September 2024, the US Department of Health and Human Services granted Blindsight revolutionary status and allowed testing on humans.
