According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, more and more people are relying heavily on the ChatGPT chatbot when making important decisions. He spoke about this alarming trend during a speech at a banking conference organized by the Federal Reserve. Altman called it “emotional overdependence” on artificial intelligence, and it is observed most often in young people.

According to Altman, people rely too much on ChatGPT. Many of them say that they cannot make a single decision in their lives without telling the artificial intelligence about it, since it knows them and their friends. And they are ready to do whatever it says. Altman does not like this trend.

He notes that even if ChatGPT gives excellent advice, you can’t live the way artificial intelligence advises. After all, it can be dangerous.

At the same time, according to a Common Sense Media report, about 72% of teenagers in the United States have used chatbots with artificial intelligence at least once. Half of those surveyed trust the advice of bots. Most often, these are teenagers aged 13-14.
