The Chinese biotech startup Lonvi Biosciences announced the creation of an experimental drug based on grape seed extract. According to the developers, it can significantly increase human lifespan – theoretically even to 150 years.

The company is confident that the drug not only slows the aging process but can also reduce the risk of chronic diseases. According to Lonvi representatives, the drug’s key action is targeted at so-called “zombie cells” – old cells that no longer divide but continue to cause inflammation and worsen overall health.

The startup’s CEO, Ip Zhu, calls the development a true “Holy Grail” of biotechnology and claims that the active ingredient improves health at the cellular level. The company’s CTO, Liu Qinghua, told the New York Times that the prospect of extending human lifespan to 150 years appears realistic and could become achievable in the coming years.

The drug is based on procyanidin C1 (PCC1), a molecule derived from grape seeds. It has previously been linked to increased survival in laboratory mice. Lonvi’s own research showed that the test animals lived an average of 9.4% longer, and 64.2% longer when treatment was started from birth.

As a reminder, we previously reported that the retina signals cardiovascular disease.
