The Chinese have implanted a chip in a person’s brain that allows him to play video games with his mind

China is conducting clinical trials of a brain chip that allows the transmission of brain signals to control external connected devices. Thanks to this, the country has become the second to reach this stage of research. Earlier, Elon Musk’s Neuralink company managed to achieve such a breakthrough. By the way, the Paradromics startup also installed a brain implant; this chip will help people with serious neurological disorders talk using a computer.

The first volunteer from China received his implant back in March. He lost all his limbs, and a wireless invasive chip with a BCI interface allowed him to learn to control a computer with his mind and play video games just a few weeks after the operation.

This Chinese implant claims to be the most compact in the world. Its diameter is 26 mm, and the thickness of the body is 6 mm. It is 100 times more flexible than the implant from Neuralink.

At the next stage of research, scientists intend to teach the patient to control the robotic arm. The BCI implant may hit the market in 2028.
