Time travel is not science fiction at all. It is much closer than we think. This is what Australian scientists say, having mathematically proven that moving into the past or future is quite real. Moreover, such travel can occur without destroying cause-and-effect relationships and catastrophic paradoxes.
The scientists’ work was published in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity. Its authors Germain Tobar and Fabio Costa from the University of Queensland studied “closed timelike curves” (CTC), a theoretical concept that was once formulated by Albert Einstein.

The results of the research showed that CTC are compatible not only with determinism, but also with local free choice of actions. Events can have many possible developments, but they will not lead to logical contradictions. For example, if someone decides to go back in time to prevent the infection of the so-called “patient zero” during the COVID-19 pandemic, history will still adjust events so that the disease appears, but in a different way. That is, someone else can become patient zero. Thus, the Universe will simply adjust to avoid a paradox.
According to scientists, the past cannot be rewritten. And any actions of time travelers will be included in history so that the result remains unchanged. That is, a person will be able to change details, but key events will occur regardless of whether they were interfered with or not.
At the same time, scientists add that they are still far from the practical implementation of a time machine. But they understand that mathematics does not prohibit this.
Recall that Google showed artificial intelligence that creates virtual worlds.
