Famous Hollywood actress Catherine O’Hara passed away on Friday, January 30, at the age of 71. This was reported by TMZ. The official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Catherine O’Hara was one of the most recognizable figures in the world of film and television. She is remembered by a wide audience for her roles in the cult Home Alone franchise, the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, and the film Best in Show.

In the first two Home Alone films, the actress played Macaulay Culkin’s character’s mother, and in the series Schitt’s Creek, she portrayed the eccentric Moira Rose, appearing in over 80 episodes. It was this role that brought her renewed popularity and critical acclaim.

O’Hara’s most recent acting project was the Apple TV+ series The Studio, in which she starred alongside Seth Rogen. Her work on this project earned her a nomination for a prestigious Emmy Award.

In 2020, the actress received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in Schitt’s Creek. Her first Emmy win came in 1982, when she was recognized for her writing on the comedy series SCTV Network 90, highlighting her multifaceted talent.

Catherine O’Hara was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, the youngest of seven children. She met her future husband, production designer Bo Welch, while filming Beetlejuice in 1988. The couple officially married in 1992 and raised two sons, Matthew and Luke.
