Kanye West is going to be sued by George Floyd’s family

George Floyd’s family is suing Kanye West over his comments about the man’s death. So, the rapper said that Floyd died not because of a policeman, but because he abused illegal substances.

Recall that George Floyd died in May 2020, while being detained by police officers. Investigators claimed that one of the police officers exceeded his authority – he kept his foot on the man’s throat for more than nine minutes and did not pay attention to his words that there was nothing to breathe. Due to lack of oxygen, there was brain damage, after which Floyd died. After that, rallies and riots began, and the policeman himself was sentenced to 21 years in prison. Floyd’s death also marked the beginning of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Kanye West recently stated on the Drink Champs podcast that George Floyd died not at all from the actions of a policeman, but from an overdose of illegal substances. After all, the policeman’s knee did not press on his neck so that he could die. He also compared Floyd to designer Virgil Abloh, who died of cancer last November.

According to a representative of the family of the deceased, she is going to sue the rapper because of false statements about the death of George Floyd.
