Colombian singer Shakira has appeared in court in Spain for tax evasion. According to Reuters, when the artist lived in Barcelona, she allegedly did not declare her international income. The singer agreed to enter into a settlement agreement during the meeting.
Now the artist must pay a fine of 7.3 million euros. She will also pay an additional 438 thousand euros to avoid a three-year sentence. This verdict was read by the judge during the first hearing, which lasted only five minutes.
Although Shakira insists that she does not consider herself guilty, she agreed to a settlement agreement. This will allow you to finish the job and not be in constant stress. The artist explained that this decision is a response to personal, emotional and sentimental reasons that have nothing to do with legal ones.
Let us remind you that the singer was accused of not paying taxes in Spain from 2012 to 2018. She allegedly lived permanently in the country and did not declare international income. She failed to pay 14.5 million euros for 2012-2014, as well as almost 7 million euros for 2018.
