British actress Samantha Eggar, known for her roles in “The Collector” and “Doctor Dolittle,” has died at the age of 85.
Her daughter, Jenna Stern, confirmed the actress’s death. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, but it is known that Eggar had been battling a serious illness for the past five years.

“Beautiful, intelligent, and strong enough to be touchingly vulnerable… Samantha Eggar. My mother died peacefully and quietly, surrounded by loved ones. I was there, holding her hand and telling her how much we loved her,” Jenna Stern wrote on Instagram.
Samantha Eggar’s real success came with the film “The Collector,” which brought her international recognition, a Golden Globe Award, a Cannes Film Festival award, and an Oscar nomination. She also starred in “Walk, Don’t Run,” “Doctor Dolittle,” and “The Brood.”

As a reminder, we reported that Daniel “Ace” Frehley, one of the founders and guitarist of the iconic rock band Kiss, passed away at the age of 74.
