The famous actress, the star of the series “The Squid Game” Lee Joo-Sil, has died at the age of 80. She passed away on February 2.
The cause of the actress’s death was an oncological disease – stomach cancer. She fought the diagnosis for three months. But her body could not cope. Lee Joo-Sil passed away in her own home in South Korea. Her funeral will take place on February 5.
The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer 30 years ago. At that time, doctors predicted that she would only have a month to live. But after 13 years of treatment, the disease receded. But over time, the cancer returned and took the actress’s life.
Lee Joo-Sil began her acting career in 1964. She appeared in Korean dramas, but her role in the TV series “Squid Game” brought her real popularity. She played the mother of Hwang Joon-ho (Wi Ha-joon) and the stepmother of Hwang In-ho (Lee Byung-hun).
