Google is announcing one of the most significant innovations in the history of Gmail. For the first time, users will be able to change their @gmail.com address without creating a new account and without losing their existing information.

Until now, changing your primary Gmail address was a nearly impossible task: you had to register a new account, set up forwarding, and lose your entire correspondence history. However, the company’s updated help materials include a new scenario that allows you to choose a different email address within an existing account.

According to the feature description, users will be able to change their Gmail address while retaining all their data—emails, photos, files, and messages. The old address will not be deleted: you will be able to sign in to your account from both addresses, and all correspondence will continue to flow into a single inbox.

It is believed that information in the support section appeared before the official launch. The update is being rolled out in stages and is not currently available to all users.

As a reminder, Midea recently unveiled a six-armed humanoid robot.
