The volunteer was an Arizona resident, Bradford Smith, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Thanks to the brain implant from Neuralink, he will be able to communicate by controlling a computer with the power of thought.

During the operation, it was necessary to use a robot due to the requirements for speed and accuracy when installing a brain implant. It consists of 1024 electrodes and 64 thin wires that read signals from the human brain and transmit them to various devices.

After the operation, the head of Neuralink, Elon Musk, said that robot surgeons will soon be able to replace people. This will happen within the next five years.
