Thousand Island Dressing is one of the most popular sauces in the world, originally from the USA. Its highlight is the harmonious combination of sweet and sour taste, creamy texture and light piquancy. Initially, this sauce was served with seafood, but today it is used as a dressing for salads, with appetizers and main courses. We at joy-pup tell you how to make 1000 Island Dressing.
Ingredients:
- Mayonnaise – 200 g
- Ketchup (or tomato sauce) – 2 tbsp.
- Pickled cucumbers (gherkins) – 2-3 pcs.
- Onions (small) – 1 pc.
- Boiled egg (optional) — 1 pc.
- Apple or wine vinegar — 1 tsp
- Sugar — 1 tsp
- Salt — to taste
- Ground black pepper — to taste
- Tabasco or other hot sauce — optional (a few drops)
Step-by-step preparation:
- Finely chop the cucumbers and onion. If you are using an egg, grate it on a fine grater.
- In a deep bowl, mix mayonnaise and ketchup until smooth.
- Add chopped vegetables, egg, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper to the sauce. Mix well.
- If desired, add a few drops of Tabasco sauce for piquancy.
- Put the finished sauce in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes so that it infuses and the flavors mix.
