Fashion Week was opened by Off-White, which held its first show since the death of its founder Virgil Abloh in 2021. The Fall/Winter 2022/2023 collection is the latest Abloh has designed for the brand, and his team has completed the work. The show, titled Spaceship Earth: An Imaginary Experience, consisted of two parts. Menswear was presented in the first part, while friends of the late designer, tennis player Serena Williams, rapper Jim Jones, top models of the 90s Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell defiled on the catwalk in the second. Huge bags, tulle tutu skirts, oversized jackets, baseball caps, tie-dye and diamond prints, sneakers paired with a wedding dress dominated the catwalk.
Balenciaga
Balenciaga presented its fall-winter 2022-2023 collection amidst a snow storm at the Parc des Expositions du Bourget. Originally conceived as a commentary on the climate catastrophe, the show was a message to Ukraine from a Georgian designer who had to flee his native Abkhazia as a child.
The brand introduces innovations, such as a long coat made of synthetic leather from mushroom mycelium (EPHEATM), which is used here instead of real leather. In addition to models, there were special guests at the show – Kim Kardashian, Alexa Demi, ASAP Ferg, Roddy Rich, Salma Hayek, who came to the show in their best outfits from the brand. The collection was presented with discreet and bold and voluminous silhouettes. The main items of the collection were leather, denim, down jackets and bomber jackets, light trench coats, overalls, cropped or oversized turtlenecks, trousers and sweatshirts.
