Paris Fashion Week, which ended on October 3, did not disappoint this year, presenting unique pieces and looks on the catwalk. The spring-summer 2024 collections offer a combination of bold trends and understated elegance. As the fashion industry bids farewell to some iconic designers, it looks forward to new perspectives and innovations that will shape the future of the industry. We at Joy-pup will discover several trends that will be relevant in the spring-summer season 2024.
Red color
his powerful and expressive color has already made its way into the collections of recent seasons, but in spring and summer 2024 it will shine with special highlights, injecting energy into the neutral, classic, pastel and black and white palettes that characterize most collections. Whether it’s an all-red look or accents of scarlet, garnet, fiery red or fiery red, they are becoming summer wardrobe must-haves. This color dominated the outfits of many brands, including Balmain, Schiaparelli, Rick Owens, Courreges, Acne Studios, Christopher Esber, Valentino, Hermès, Zimmermann.
3-D flowers
The floral shades of spring 2024 literally catch the eye. Most often, when we see flowers in fashion collections, they are presented in three-dimensional form in the form of sculptures or all-over decorations, as was the case at Balmain and Chloé.
Massive shoulders
Statement dressing took off to new heights when Balenciaga wowed with its oversized blazers with prominent shoulders. Junya Watanabe’s leather jackets were artfully folded and deformed like intricate paper sculptures. This combination of fashion and geometry inspired us all to think about the mysteries of this art.
Shorts-panties
Speaking of seductiveness at Paris Fashion Week, let’s pay attention to short shorts. Even when it seems that the popularity of these clothes has reached its peak, they are surprisingly sexy and fit so tightly on the body that sometimes they raise the question, are they still clothes or already underwear? Pair them with a loose blouse or matching leather jacket to highlight your personality.
Lace
This season was characterized by remarkable collections in which detailed lace, especially crocheted or intricate patterns, played an important role. The Dior collection featured impressive floral patterns that adorned snow-white fabrics and lace elements. Particularly worth highlighting is the napkin lace, which became a characteristic feature of one of the key images of Vivienne Westwood.
Cutouts
This season’s clothing showed off plenty of skin, not through crop tops, but through artful cutouts. A daring hint of sexuality among collections that seemed especially subdued this season. I was especially captivated by the keyhole cutout du jour, which showed off part of the torso. It takes several different forms: from a thin cut (at Alexander McQueen) to large cutouts at the navel (at Duran Lantink and Schiaparelli).
Roses
The rose, a symbol of love and passion, is present in several collections. Balmain, in particular, has made it a central theme of its summer 2024 wardrobe. On an Alexander McQueen evening dress they are elegantly scattered in different places of the dress. Whole bouquets of roses were hidden under a chiffon dress at Simone Rocha and Undercover in spectacular terrarium dresses.
