Contrast-type makeup has become popular among many fashionistas. This trend is based on the correct selection of shades and colors depending on the natural color type of a person. Thus, you can emphasize natural data and create a bright image. And you will also significantly change your appearance, making it more expressive. We at joy-pup will tell you how to do contrast-type makeup correctly.
What is a contrast type?
Each person has a unique appearance determined by the color of their skin, eyes and hair. Contrast is the degree of difference between them.
- High contrast is a sharp difference between shades, for example, light skin and dark hair.
- Low contrast is soft, close in tone colors, for example, light skin, light hair and light eyes.
There are three types of appearance by contrast.
High contrast
Bright, saturated colors in makeup emphasize the natural contrast. This type is characterized by a combination of light skin, dark hair and bright eyeshadow.
Medium contrast
A softer combination of colors, moderate shades. Example: medium skin tone, light brown hair and brown or blue eyes.
Low contrast
A small difference between the shades of the skin, hair and eyes. Most often, light or soft natural tones are chosen for makeup.
Makeup for the high contrast type
- Skin tone. Flawless, even tone with a good mattifying base.
- Eyes. Use bright or deep shades of eyeshadow (black, dark blue, purple). You can add clear arrows for expressiveness.
- Lips. Choose saturated shades – bright red, burgundy or cherry.
- Cheeks. Use cool shades of blush and highlighter.
Makeup for a medium-contrast type
- Skin tone. Medium-density foundation that does not create a mask effect.
- Eyes. You can use soft eyeshadow colors – brown, bronze, lavender. Arrows or lightly highlighting the lash line will make your look expressive.
- Lips. Choose coral, pink, plum shades.
- Cheeks. Delicate blush in peach or pink shades to add a healthy glow.
Makeup for a low-contrast type
- Skin tone. Light, translucent tone to create a natural effect.
- Eyes. Use natural shades – beige, light brown, powdery pink eyeshadow.
- Lips. Neutral or pastel colors – light pink, nude, peach.
- Cheeks. Minimum sculpting, natural blush in the tone of your skin tone.
