New Year holidays are a delicious menu, incredible treats and feasts. And, of course, few people manage to maintain their weight and not gain extra pounds. What to do in this case? We at joy-pup give practical recommendations on how not to gain weight during the New Year holidays.
Plan your diet in advance
Most problems with overeating are associated with impulsive choice of dishes. Try to make a menu for the holiday table in advance:
- pay attention to vegetable salads and appetizers without mayonnaise;
- instead of fried meat, use baked or steamed dishes;
- give preference to desserts with a minimum amount of sugar, such as fruits or light mousses.
Before the feast, do not sit down to the table hungry – a light snack, such as yogurt or an apple, will help to avoid overeating.
Control portions
Even the most caloric dishes will not harm your figure if you eat them in small quantities. To avoid overeating, use smaller plates, start with light treats and control portions.
Remember the 80% satiety rule. Stop when you feel slightly satisfied with the food.
Try to stay active
The holidays are a great time for walks, active games with children or home workouts. So arrange family walks, do exercises every day and be physically active. This will help improve your mood and burn calories.
Control your drinks
Alcohol and sugary drinks contain a lot of hidden calories. To reduce their impact, give preference to dry wine or champagne, avoiding liqueurs and cocktails with syrups. Reduce the amount of sweet sodas, replacing them with mineral water with lemon or homemade compotes without sugar.
Enjoy food consciously
Take your time while eating. Chew each bite thoroughly to feel the taste of the dish, and also take breaks while eating. Mindful eating reduces the risk of overeating and makes the process of eating more enjoyable.
