A perfectly tanned body is always beautiful. And many of us strive to achieve this by spending time at the beach. We at joy-pup have already talked about the rules for successful tanning, but if you don’t have time to lie under the sun and wait for results, self-tanning is a good choice. It is important to use it correctly, which will allow you to get an even and beautiful skin tone.
Skin preparation
The first and perhaps most important step is exfoliating your body. It is recommended to do this the day before applying self-tanner, paying special attention to rougher areas such as elbows, knees and ankles. This will remove dead skin cells and ensure a more even application of the product.
After scrubbing, the skin needs to be moisturized. Apply moisturizer all over your body, especially dry areas. This will help prevent the self-tanner from absorbing unevenly and causing spots to form.
Choose a self-tanner
There are many types of self-tanners: lotions, creams, mousses, sprays and wipes. Choose a product that is comfortable for you to use and suits your skin type. For example, creams and lotions are better for dry skin, while mousses and sprays may be more convenient for those who prefer a quick application.
How to Apply Self Tanner
Always wear gloves when applying self-tanner to avoid staining your palms. You can use disposable or specialized ones.
Start applying self-tanner from your legs and gradually work your way up your body. This will help avoid smudging and uneven coverage. Apply in circular motions to ensure even coverage of each area.
Apply less product to areas with rough skin, such as elbows and knees, as they tend to absorb more and become darker. For these areas, you can use a slightly diluted self-tanner or pre-moisturize them.
Completing the procedure
After applying your self-tanner, let it dry completely. This may take from 5 to 30 minutes depending on the product. Take your time getting dressed to avoid staining your clothes and causing stains on your skin.
For 6-8 hours after applying the self-tanner, avoid contact with water and physical activity so that the product does not wash off and is evenly absorbed.
How to care for your skin?
To make your tan last longer and prevent it from fading unevenly, moisturize your skin regularly. This will help your tan look more natural and even.
After a few days, when the tan begins to wash off, you can repeat the procedure to refresh the color. Again, exfoliate and moisturize before reapplying.
