Lionsgate has unveiled a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Dawn of Harvest, which will be an expansion of the famous Hunger Games film franchise.

The future film is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, published in 2025. The plot takes viewers 24 years ago relative to the events of the first part of the original saga.

The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Harvest will focus on the story of Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada), the future mentor of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and the winner of the Games from District 12. Viewers will be shown his journey, starting with the Day of Harvest at the 50th Hunger Games.

An impressive cast has joined the project. Jesse Plemons will play Plutarch Heavensbee, Whitney Peake will play Lenore Dove Baird, Ralph Fiennes will play Coriolanus Snow, Elle Fanning will appear as Effie Trinket, and Maya Hawke will play Wiress. Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are also expected to return to their iconic roles.

The film was directed by Francis Lawrence, who previously worked on such projects as Constantine: Lord of the Dark, I Am Legend and Water for Elephants, as well as several parts of the Hunger Games franchise. The script was written by Billy Ray.
