The star wrote that her father, William John Garner, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon. He was 85 years old. The actress noted that he lived a healthy and wonderful life. And she knows that grief is inevitable, it can await everyone around the most unexpected corners. Garner also added that her family is grateful to her father for his gentle demeanor and calm strength.

The actress also said that when her father left, they were with him and sang Amazing Grace.
