New Mexico Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey withdrew her own appeal to review the court’s decision on Alec Baldwin’s innocence in the case of the murder of cameraman Galina Hutchins in 2021. She filed an appeal after the case was closed in July 2024. That’s when the actor was cleared of manslaughter charges.
The prosecutor disagreed with the court’s decision and filed a petition for consideration by the US Attorney General’s Office. Then it became known that the special prosecutor’s appeal was refused to be agreed upon and considered. This forced Ms. Morrissey to withdraw her appeal. This effectively means admitting the fact that the case is closed.
Baldwin’s lawyers said the withdrawal of the appeal is the final confirmation that this was an unspeakable tragedy, but the actor did not commit a crime.
