Actor Bob Newhart, legendary American comedian and star of The Big Bang Theory, has died at the age of 94. The comedian passed away at his home in Los Angeles after a series of short illnesses. The actor is survived by four children and 10 grandchildren.

Bob Newhart began his career as a stand-up comedian. He then went on to have a successful acting career. His awards include three Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. With his deadpan delivery and signature stutter, he became a comic sensation.

The actor became famous for his role as Papa Elf in the 2003 comedy Elf, and for his role as Susan Mayer’s stepfather Morty Flicker in the 2005 Desperate Housewives. But his greatest fame came from his role as Professor Arthur Jeffries/Proton in The Big Bang Theory.
