Smash Mouth lead singer Stephen Harwell has died at the age of 56. His death came on September 4th.
The singer died of liver failure. Shortly before that, he was admitted to a hospice. For a long time, Stephen Harwell abused alcohol, because of which he developed an incurable disease.
The musician’s death was announced by the band’s spokesman Robert Hayes in a commentary to Rolling Stone. He said the singer passed away “peacefully and comfortably surrounded by family and friends” at his home in Boise, Idaho.
Hayes also said that the musician left the group two years ago. But Steve’s legacy will live on through his music. After all, with him, Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums, she topped the charts thanks to her songs. Also, her compositions were used in films, including she wrote the soundtracks for Shrek.
Stephen Harwell has been the vocalist for Smash Mouth for over 30 years. The team received a Grammy, and its soundtrack to Shrek became incredibly popular.
