English actor, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington admitted that during filming in the series he had a mental disorder and alcohol addiction. He played one of the main characters – Jon Snow.
According to The Times, the actor admitted that he tried to cope with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with the help of alcohol. But this only worsened his condition and led to alcoholism.
Kit Harington shared that everyone treated him like a character, a hero and a good-natured person. But in life he never imagined himself like this. And this is precisely what, in his opinion, left a mark on the psyche. He drank a lot, went through addiction and all that it entails. The actor was the complete opposite of the character he played.
The actor also added that his fans were disappointed because they thought that he was the same as his character.
After completing filming of the series, the actor suffered an emotional breakdown. And the turning point for him was when he played in Sam Shepard’s play “True West” in the West End. He drank and played an alcoholic. And this was the worst thing for the actor. And then he finally came to his senses.
