Great Britain’s King Charles III is preparing to be hospitalized. During a routine health check, he was diagnosed with a benign tumor in the prostate gland.
According to Buckingham Palace, the king’s condition is satisfactory. But he needs to undergo corrective treatment procedures. So, he goes to the hospital for surgery. The 75-year-old king’s public appearances will be postponed while he undergoes treatment and recovery. It is currently unknown how long the rehabilitation will last.
The day before, the monarch was supposed to meet with foreign officials and members of the Cabinet in Scotland. These appointments have been canceled due to medical reasons. Charles III was keen to share his diagnosis with the public to encourage other men to get tested.
As the NHS England website notes, benign prostate enlargement, which is not cancerous, is common in men over 50. This is not a serious condition, but it can cause some problems.
In addition, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton was also hospitalized. She underwent abdominal surgery. She is recovering and will not return to royal duties until Easter.
