Nazareth founding member Dan McCafferty has died at the age of 76. This was announced by the band’s bass player Pete Agnew. The causes of the musician’s death are not discussed, but in 2013 he left the band due to health problems.
The official statement released says it is the saddest statement Pete Agnew has ever had to make. He noted that Marian and the family lost a loving husband and father, and he himself lost his best friend. The musician also added that the world has lost one of the greatest singers.
In 2021, another founding member of the band, guitarist Manny Charlton, died. Thus, only Pete Agnew, of the three friends who founded Nazareth in 1968, remains alive.
Dan McCafferty has been the band’s leader since the band’s inception. During his participation in the team, Nazareth recorded 23 studio albums, and the rock ballad Love Hurts brought fame to the group. In addition, McCafferty sang on his own, he released three solo albums.
